Supporting artists.

ALANYA VAN DE WIEL

I’m a creative support practitioner and artist working one-on-one with artists and individuals who use creativity as a way to navigate their lives and work.

My practice is grounded in care, conversation and creative process. I offer space to slow down, reflect and make sense of what’s unfolding, alongside gentle structure and practical support to help plan next steps with clarity.

I don’t work clinically or prescribe outcomes. Instead, sessions are shaped around the individual, responding to where you are rather than where you “should” be.

My background spans creative practice, counselling and art therapy training, community coordination, and working closely with artists, galleries and corporate spaces. This experience informs a grounded, ethical and practical approach to supporting people and creative work.

People often come to this work during periods of change, uncertainty or overwhelm. Together, we take things one step at a time, using conversation, creative exploration and thoughtful planning to support clarity and confidence.

Alongside my one-to-one work, I’m also the founder of the New Artists’ Collective, a growing network of artists across Newcastle and the Hunter Region. The collective creates opportunities for artists to connect, exhibit and develop their practice through exhibition programs, artist talks, workshops and community gatherings.

Increasingly, this work focuses on building bridges between artists and professional organisations, creating new pathways for artists to share and sell their work in corporate and public spaces.

If you’re unsure whether this kind of support is right for you, a conversation is a good place to begin.
