Art Advisor | Founder, New Artists' Collective

ALANYA VAN DE WIEL

At the heart of all my work is a belief that art has the power to transform spaces, spark conversation, strengthen communities and create lasting value for both artists and audiences.

My practice spans art advisory, corporate art programs, artist coaching and creative facilitation. My focus is on building relationships that enrich people, spaces and communities by supporting local emerging artists, curating artwork for professional and private environments and designing a creative experiences for workplaces.

Drawing on my experience as a practising artist, mentor, facilitator and community organiser, I bring both strategic insight and a deep understanding of the creative world. My approach is collaborative, practical and people-centred, helping clients navigate the art world with confidence and clarity.

I work with businesses and private clients to source, curate and install original artwork by selected talented local emerging artists, often through rotating art programs that bring fresh creative perspectives into professional spaces. This also creates valuable opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their work.

Alongside this, I provide coaching and consultation for artists seeking professional development, career direction and practical guidance.

I am also the founder of the New Artists' Collective, a thriving community of more than 200 artists across Newcastle and the Hunter Region. Over the past seven years, the collective has created opportunities for artists through exhibitions, professional development programs, artist talks, workshops and community events, fostering connection and strengthening the local creative ecosystem.
